AlkaMed Alkalising Powder

Description:

AlkaMed is a fast-dissolving mineral powder containing sodium bicarbonate, potassium bicarbonate and sodium citrate. These alkaline salts act as acid-buffering agents and may help neutralise excess stomach acid temporarily.

AlkaMed does not change or “reset” the body’s overall pH, which is carefully controlled by the lungs and kidneys. It is not intended to treat inflammation, allergies, digestive disorders or chronic medical conditions.

Indication:

AlkaMed may provide short-term support for occasional acid-related digestive discomfort when used under the guidance of a healthcare professional. Persistent heartburn, reflux, abdominal pain or other gastrointestinal symptoms require medical assessment.

Active ingredients

Each half-scoop contains:

• Sodium bicarbonate: 2 699 mg, providing 733 mg sodium
• Potassium bicarbonate: 268 mg, providing 106 mg potassium
• Sodium citrate: 53 mg, providing 14 mg sodium

Total sodium per half-scoop: 747 mg

Other ingredient: Tricalcium phosphate.

Dosage recommendation:

Dissolve half to one scoop in 125 ml of water and take in the morning and evening before food, or as prescribed by your healthcare practitioner.

Take AlkaMed at least two hours apart from medicines and other supplements. Certain medicines may require a longer separation period; confirm this with your doctor or pharmacist.

Important sodium information

AlkaMed is high in sodium:

• Half-scoop provides approximately 747 mg sodium
• One scoop provides approximately 1 494 mg sodium
• One scoop twice daily provides approximately 2 988 mg sodium before dietary sodium is included

People following a sodium-restricted diet should not use this product without medical approval.

Cautions:

Consult a healthcare professional before use if you:

• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Take prescription or chronic medication
• Have high blood pressure
• Have impaired kidney function or kidney disease
• Have heart disease, fluid retention or congestive heart failure
• Have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
• Follow a sodium- or potassium-restricted diet
• Have an existing acid–base or electrolyte imbalance

Do not use in kidney failure or congestive heart failure unless specifically prescribed and monitored by a doctor. Excessive or prolonged use may cause sodium overload, fluid retention or metabolic alkalosis.

This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or replace prescribed medication. Do not discontinue medication without your doctor’s advice.
